What we publish
Signum News reports events in artificial intelligence: releases, research results, deals, filings, laws and incidents. We do not publish opinion, sponsored stories or press releases dressed up as news. Each story is built from coverage by other publications and, where we can find them, primary sources such as company announcements, papers and official filings. Every story links to the sources it is based on, and those sources are the record.
How AI is used
Our stories are AI-assisted. An automated pipeline reads news feeds, works out the event behind each article, groups coverage of the same event, and uses AI models (Claude, made by Anthropic) to write the summary and to score it. Stories that pass the scoring rules are published automatically, without a person reading them first. We say this plainly because it affects how much you should rely on any one summary.
What our editor does
Our editor, Elliot Marsh, is responsible for the site and for what it publishes. The editor sets the rules the pipeline follows, reviews the feed after stories go live, merges or removes duplicate and faulty stories, and handles every correction request. The editor's name appears on each story because the editor answers for it, not because the editor wrote every word.
How stories are scored
Each event gets a signal score from 0 to 100, based on four things: the quality of the evidence, the real-world impact, how actionable it is, and how specific and checkable the claim is. Events that score 60 or more with enough confidence are published. Lower scores, and very high scores without primary evidence, are held back. A score is a judgement about how much the news matters and how well it is supported, not a measure of whether it is good or bad news.
The full method, including the rubric, the models used at each step and the known limits, is on How we score.
Independence
No company pays to be covered, to be scored or to change a score. If we show advertising, advertisers have no say over what we publish, and ads are kept visually separate from stories.
Duplicates
When the pipeline publishes the same event more than once, the editor keeps the most complete version and unpublishes the others. Their old links redirect to the version we kept, so nothing you shared stops working.
Corrections
We want to get things right. If you find a mistake, tell us through the contact page and include a link to the story and, if you can, to a source that shows the error. The editor reads every report.
Where a story is wrong in a way that matters, we correct it and note the change, or take the story down if it cannot be fixed. We aim to act within two working days. Minor fixes, such as spelling or formatting, may be made without a note.
